They say one magical moment can change your life.
For me, that moment came wrapped in fur and softness, with tiny paws and sparkling eyes her name was Boski.
I wasn’t looking for a pet that evening. I had just attended a party, and as we were leaving, we stopped by the basement of the building. That’s when I saw her tumbling across the room on unsteady legs, Boski made her way to me from a litter of newly born Pomeranian pups. She chose me. No hesitation, no doubt. Just a silent, soul-stirring connection.
“Some souls don’t need words to recognize each other they remember.”
That moment was love at first sight. I was a little girl, unaware of what it meant to bring home a living being, to care for, raise, and protect them. But something inside me shifted. I begged my parents, who bless their kind hearts agreed, and just like that, Boski became the heartbeat of our home.
She wasn’t just my first dogthat i got home myself. She was my first teacher, my emotional awakening, my first real taste of what it means to be responsible for someone and because of someone.
Boski brought a new rhythm to our lives. She would hop around the house like royalty, charm everyone with her expressive eyes, and lie next to me during the quietest moments of childhood. She became family not as a pet, but as a daughter to my parents and a sister to me.
But her journey wasn’t without trials. When Boski fell gravely ill with distemper parvovirus, it felt like the world was caving in. Watching her fragile body struggle was heartbreaking, but even in that state, she radiated strength. And against all odds she fought and healed.
“The smallest creatures often teach us the greatest resilience.”
After her recovery, she turned into an even bigger diva. Boski refused to eat regular food she only accepted homemade whole wheat, no-sugar egg cakes that my mom lovingly baked just for her. She had survived, and she had earned her treats.
We were gifted 16 beautiful years with Boski. Sixteen years of laughter, cuddles, tears, lessons, and unconditional love. She was there through my growing years, always a silent witness to my joys, fears, and transitions. She was the first bridge that connected me to the language of animals the silent whispers, the deep knowing, the fierce loyalty that lives in their hearts.
“First loves come in many forms mine had four paws and a cake obsession.”
Losing Boski was one of the hardest chapters of my life. But her love didn’t end it simply changed form. Even now, I feel her presence in moments of stillness, in the scent of fresh cake, in the eyes of animals who find their way to me.
Boski was not just a pet.
She was the beginning of everything.
“Some animals don’t just walk into your home they walk into your soul.”
